Integrated BS/MS >> Requirements
Admissions:
Students must complete and submit to the Graduate Student Affairs Office the Application for Graduate Admission during the fourth quarter prior to the receipt of the B.S. degree. To be eligible, students must have completed the first two quarters of their junior year in residence at UCSD and have an upper-division GPA of 3.5 or better and a 3.0 overall UC GPA. In addition to the Application for Graduate Admission, students must submit a statement of purpose and a letter of recommendation from a Bioengineering faculty member. It is the responsibility of the prospective B.S./M.S. student to select a Bioengineering faculty member who is willing to serve as the student’s advisor. The deadline for Fall 2008 is Friday, May 23. The online application can be found at http://graduateapp.ucsd.edu, and will be available April 2008.

Curriculum:
Twelve units of Bioengineering graduate level courses must be completed during the student’s senior undergraduate year, in addition to the requirements for the bachelor’s degree; these twelve units will count toward the requirements for the master’s degree only and must be taken for a letter grade. The student will arrange (with their faculty advisor’s approval) a schedule of courses for the senior year that will fulfill the requirements for the B.S. degree while also serving the program planned for the M.S. degree. Students are expected to meet the requirements for the M.S. degree in one year (three consecutive academic quarters) from the date of the receipt of the B.S. degree. Students are also encouraged to meet with the Undergraduate Advisor and Graduate Advisor to plan the undergraduate and graduate courses to be taken during the senior year.
