Ph.D. >> Sample Schedule
The following example program of study is designed to prepare the student for the departmental Ph.D. qualifying exam after one three quarters of study.

Ph.D. Second Year Courses:

• At least two courses from an approved list that includes the continuation of Engineering Foundation courses such as the MAE 231, 210, (207), 221A, ECE 251 and Chem 211 course sequences, BE 230D and other Bioengineering Graduate Course sequences.
• One quarter BE501-Teaching Experience
• BE281 Seminar FWS

Ph.D. Third and Subsequent Year Courses:

• Two quarters BE501 Teaching Experience prior to advancement to candidacy (Senate Qualifying Exam)
• BE281 seminar FWS

Courses comprising theDepartmental Qualifying Examination subject areas as well as subsequent requirements and composition of the examination committee must be approved by the departmental Committee on Graduate Affairs. Students are advised to seek such approval well in advance of their expected examination date, preferably while planning graduate studies.
