Postdoctoral Research Positions

Cell Biologist Postdoctoral Position
A postdoctoral position is open for research on a blood test for prenatal genetic screening via analyses of ultra rare fetal cells (~1:1 M) in maternal blood using novel high throughput microscopy instrumentation. Skills should include FISH (centromeric or locus-specific probes and whole chromosome painting), immunofluorescence, cell culture, biostatistics, fluorescence and confocal microscopy. Combined immunofluorescence-and-FISH staining experience is preferred. The applicant should have an interest in high throughput microscopy and automated imaging instrumentation to facilitate successful collaboration with engineers and computer scientists in the development and validation of new pattern recognition and image analysis algorithms, cytogeneticists in the design of new probes for cell selection sensitivity, and medical geneticists for successful implementation in the clinical lab. Related projects include labeling and identifying rare cancer cells in blood and performing automated cyto- and histopathology diagnostics, including tissue microarrays. US citizen or permanent resident required for NIH postdoctoral training grant.
